AI for established EdTech software

Your EdTech platform, with the AI everyone's asking for.

For established EdTech platforms. We build it inside the product you already run, under your name, so you can win renewals and RFPs, or sell it as a paid AI tier.

  • Built inside your product, under your name
  • Runs in your cloud, on your model, by default
  • Synthetic or de-identified data in every Sprint

Why established EdTech products stall on AI

What gets in the way, and how we handle it.

  1. 01

AI is a line item in RFPs and renewals

    Demo-ready AI inside your product

Working in your staging, under your name, after a three-week Build Sprint.

  2. 02

Your data model wasn't built for AI

Reads through your existing APIs and roles

Each user sees only what they already can. No rebuild.

  3. 03

The pilot stalls at the security review

Controls and evidence designed for your customers' security reviews

Approvals, audit logs and a data-flow sheet from the first Sprint.

  4. 04

    Per-learner pricing, per-use AI cost

Cost per learner estimated before launch

With a packaging recommendation: include it, or sell it as a paid AI tier.

  5. 05

Term start is the load test

Load testing at your peak, with spend caps per institution

Part of what production typically includes.

How it works

Three ways to start, each at a fixed price.

A 30-minute review tells you which one fits. Whichever you pick, you know the production price before you commit, and your fee counts toward it.

No AI yet, and a module fits

Build Sprint

$10,000 fixed3 weeks

Pick it when: One of our modules delivers the outcome you want.

Pathly · Rehearsly · Syllably · Docently · Cohortly

  • One buyer outcome (2–3 related capabilities) working in your staging, behind a feature flag
  • Pull requests to your repo, built on your catalog and synthetic or de-identified data
  • Quality and safety evals, the cost to serve and a packaging recommendation
  • A fixed-price quote for production

Something new, or a plan first

Planning Sprint

$5,000 fixed2 weeks

Pick it when: You need something our modules don't cover, or want a plan before you build.

  • Where AI fits across your product, including beyond our modules
  • A prioritized capability map, with what each one depends on
  • A readiness review of your architecture, data and permissions
  • A fixed-price quote to build it and take it to production

AI already built or tried

AI Scorecard

$5,000 fixed2 weeks

Pick it when: You've already built or tried an AI feature in your product, live or not.

  • One AI feature you've built, tested in staging on 50 of your own cases
  • Data-safety and misuse tests, and an accessibility pass on the AI screens
  • Cost per learner and a packaging recommendation
  • A scorecard, ranked fixes, draft security answers and a fixed quote

Not a compliance audit or certification.

Production, at a fixed quote

We take what your Sprint built or planned live for your customers, by pull request, with no standing production access. It typically includes load testing at your peak and a spend cap per institution. Your Sprint or Scorecard fee counts toward it.

After go-live, optional support

The product is finished and yours to run. If you want us to stay on: a named lead engineer, a monthly quality and cost report, testing before any model change, and more capabilities, each at its own fixed quote.

Stop after any Sprint and keep what you got.

How a Build Sprint runs

  • In the setup week we map your integrations and agree what the Sprint touches.
  • We follow your coding standards, tests and CI; your engineers review and merge every pull request.
  • Half at signature, half when the Sprint Pack is delivered.
  • Your time: about 2 to 3 hours a week from a product owner, plus an engineer to review pull requests.

Need integrations or an accessibility review? Ask in the Product Review.

Built for education data

Controls your customers' security reviews ask about.

Each control is a design fact about how the module is built and how we work, not a compliance claim.

  • Works with what you run

Reads catalog, courses, rosters and gradebook through the APIs and roles your product already has.

  • Synthetic data in Sprints

Sprint work uses synthetic or de-identified data and ships as pull requests to your repo.

  • Cited, and staff approve

Answers cite their source; anything that changes a grade, application or record waits for staff.

We work within your FERPA, COPPA, accessibility, security and institutional requirements. Compliance depends on the complete product, contracts, policies and operating environment; Datics does not present software engineering alone as legal certification.

Questions we hear on the first call

Straight answers before you book.

The questions EdTech product and engineering leaders ask most.

How do we know if a Sprint worked?

In the setup week we agree the quality bar on your eval set. The Sprint Pack shows the results against it, so the go or no-go decision is yours, on evidence. If the Sprint doesn't meet the bar we agreed, you keep what we built and there's no obligation to continue.

What happens after a Sprint, and who keeps it working?

You get a fixed-price quote for production, and the fee counts toward it. If you go ahead, we take it to production at that quote, changing only what your product needs. At launch it's a finished product you can run yourself. If you want, we can stay on for quality checks, model updates and cost watch, and add more capabilities, each at its own fixed quote; any ongoing scope is set out in your agreement. If you stop, you keep what you got: the pull requests in your repository and the Sprint Pack, the plan, or the scorecard, on the terms in your contract.

Do you need access to our production student data?

No. Every Sprint and the AI Scorecard run on synthetic or de-identified data, production student data stays in your cloud under your access controls, and code reaches your product as pull requests. In production we work only through access you grant, and you can revoke it at any time.

How do you handle FERPA and COPPA?

Compliance belongs to your complete product, contracts and policies, so we do not claim it for software alone. We work within your FERPA, COPPA, accessibility and institutional requirements, with approval steps, audit logs and data isolation.

Do you have SOC 2?

Not yet. We work in your staging by pull request. In production we work only through access you grant, and you can revoke it at any time.

How do you stop it giving learners wrong answers?

It answers only from your sources and shows them. When nothing covers the question, it hands off to staff instead of guessing. Anything that affects a grade, application or record waits for staff approval. And we measure all of it on your own eval set before launch.

Which AI models do you use?

Your choice. We work with the major model providers and self-hosted models, list the approved endpoints with region and retention, and don't use your data to train models for anyone else. The Sprint Pack compares the cost on two models.

Can't our own team build this?

Your team can build a demo. Shipping it into a live multi-tenant product, inside your permissions, tested on your cases, with a cost model and security answers, is what we do, starting from engines we've already delivered. Your team reviews every pull request, and the code lives in your repository.

Why you, not our LMS vendor's AI or a point tool?

A platform vendor's AI usually ships under their brand, built for their data model rather than yours, and is hard to charge for. Ours ships under your name, inside your permissions, and you can choose to include it or sell it as a paid tier.

Who owns the code and the feature?

What we build for your product lives in your repository and ships under your name. The reusable engine underneath stays ours and is licensed to you; the terms are in your contract.

Can you integrate with our LMS, SIS or rostering?

Yes, as part of the build, against the standards your product already supports (LTI 1.3, OneRoster, Clever and ClassLink, Ed-Fi, xAPI and SCORM, SSO through SAML or OpenID Connect), tested in your sandbox. We scope integrations in the Product Review.

Where are you based?

Datics is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with a named lead engineer and US-hours overlap on every engagement.
